Have you ever wondered “How That Pot o’ Gold Got to the End of the Rainbow?”

For this St. Patrick’s Day my daughter and I are going to read Too Many Leprechauns: Or How That Pot o’ Gold Got to the End of the Rainbow By Stephen Krensky and make a super easy Pot o’ Gold basket. This story is such a playful explanation how leprechauns stashing their treasure at rainbow’s end came to be.

We asked some of our Facebook friends to share some unique ideas on how they show their green. Patty wears a t-shirt that says “I’m Irish, and you are green with envy!” Gretchen’s kids go to a charter school and have to wear uniforms so wearing green that day is out. Last year, they painted their fingernails green! What fun ideas.

This year my daughter and I got matching green socks. Go grab a pair of your most comfortable socks and join in on this fun!

Aren’t they just cute? You might want to snuggle up in a blanket too!

Now that you know how the gold got to the end of the rainbow, have you ever found it?

Materials: book/ socks/ ribbon/ basket/ chocolate gold coins

To go along with this playful story I thought it would be fun to make our own pot o’ gold. Its super easy to make. All you need to do is fill your basket up with chocolate gold coins and tie ribbon on the handle.

How do you plan on spending St. Patrick’s Day?

I’d love to hear any special traditions you and your family share.

Specific supplies I used to complete my project: Socks from Target (Dollar Bins)/ Ribbon by Celebrate It (Michaels Stores)/ Basket from Michaels Stores
